Siewert, Perez key Westminster win

ELGIN -- The Westminster Christian baseball team knocked off visiting Kirkland-Hiawatha 8-3 on Friday in non-conference action.

Brandon Siewert (4-for-4, 2 doubles, 2 RBIs), Chadd Schroy (home run), Brandon Weingartner (double, RBI) and Ryan Perez (2 RBIs) provided the offense. Perez (3-0) earned the win, coming on in relief to strike out seven, walk one and allow two hits in four innings.

"We struggled at the beginning but finally started breaking it out," Westminster Christian coach Jeff Moeller said. "We calmed down and got it going."

The Warriors improve to 11-6 with the win.
