Patriots Sign Seven During Early Signing Period

11/21/2007

Head Baseball Coach Dan Heefner has announced the signing of seven players to National Letters of Intent during the early signing period.  "Coach Wyckoff, Frieling and I are very excited about this year's recruiting class.  We feel these players have the ability, character, and work ethic to make a significant contribution in the years to come," said Heefner.  The early class for the Patriots includes six high school seniors and one junior college transfer, three pitchers, one infielder, outfielder, catcher, and utility player.

The following players signed National Letters of Intent with the Patriots this past week:

Landon Anderson (Grapevine Faith HS, Texas ) - Outfield

Anderson is a three-sport star at Faith Christian High School in Grapevine. He is an All-State track athlete, quarterback of the football team, and District MVP and First Team All-State selection on the baseball field. Landon runs a 6.65 60-yard dash and will be looked at to add some speed to the top of the Patriot order.  Landon is also a member of the National Honor Society and is an Academic All-State performer in the classroom.

Ryan Behmanesh (Mansfield Summit HS, Texas ) - IF/C/RHP

Behmanesh is a versatile player and an offensive threat from the right side of the plate.  Playing for the Dallas Tigers this past summer he hit .410, with 2 homeruns and 15 doubles.  During the spring with Mansfield Summit, he struck out only four times during the season.  Behmanesh was also named a 2006 Mansfield Summit High School Scholar Athlete.

Cody Brooks ( Prestonwood Christian Academy , Texas ) - Catcher

Brooks was named TAPPS 2-5A All-District in each of the past three seasons.  He was also named this summer to the Under Armour Pre-Season All-American Team by BaseballFactory.com.  Brooks is a switch-hitter and an outstanding defensive catcher.  He will be a solid addition to the Patriots line up.

Trey Frazier ( Prestonwood Christian Academy , Texas ) - LHP

Frazier is a tall projectable left-handed pitcher who knows how to pitch.  Trey was named TAPPS 2-5A All-District in 2007 and was an All-Tournament selection at the Brett Cowart Invitational.  Frazier is a member of the National Honor Society and received the Top 10% Award from Prestonwood Academy .

Travis Meiners ( Des Moines Area Community College, Iowa ) - Infield

Meiners is the lone junior college sign for the Patriots and is a versatile infielder, who can play any position.  Meiners hit .376, with 14 doubles and 5 triples for DMACC last season, while stealing 13 bases.  For his efforts, he was named ICCAC All-Conference Second Team.  Originally, from Eyota, Minnesota , Meiners was named First Team All-State in 2006.

Ben Palmer ( Westminster Christian High School , Illinois ) - LHP

Palmer, a left-handed pitcher from Hampshire, Illinois , was named First Team All-Area by the Courier News and the Daily Herald in 2007.  Armed with an outstanding breaking ball, he was also named PSL All-Conference and IHSA First Team All-State last season.  Ben is also a member of the National Honor Society.

Brandon Parrent ( Flower Mound High School, Texas ) - LHP

Parrent becomes the third Flower Mound Jaguar pitcher to sign with the Patriots in the last three years, joining Jordan Meaker and Ryan Millard.  Both Meaker and Millard have done big things for the Patriots on the mound and Parrent looks to the do the same.  Brandon was named First Team All-District in District 6-5A, one of the toughest districts in the state, and will impact the Patriot pitching staff for years to come.
