Prep Baseball: Warriors open playoffs in style

May 15, 2008

ASHTON -- Westminster Christian's baseball team got off to the postseason start it was looking for Wednesday.

The top-seeded Warriors drilled Kirland-Hiawatha 10-0 in five innings to advance to Saturday's Ashton-Franklin Central Class 1A Regional title game.

"We came out aggressive with the way we were swinging our bats, and that was important," Westminster coach Jeff Moeller said. "We had a rough stage near the end of the regular season. But now we've got an opportunity to win another regional."

Chadd Schroy, Tyler Beachler, Ryan Donahue and Joe McGanon each drove in a pair of runs, while Casey Schuring went 3-for-3 with a double for the Warriors (23-9).

Brandon Siewert (8-1) struck out six and helped himself with a home run.
