Warriors run win streak to five straight

ELGIN -- Kevin Elder's performance on the mound and at the plate keyed Westminster Christian's doubleheader sweep of visiting Fenton on Saturday in non-conference baseball action. The Warriors have won five in a row.

Elder (3-0) fanned two and walked none in a 19-3, five-inning victory in Game 1 in which he also contributed a 3-for-3 effort at-bat with two doubles and two RBIs. Steve Berglund (2 hits, home run, 4 RBIs), Chadd Schroy (2 doubles), Zack Holmer (double, 2 RBIs) and Mike O'Neill (2 hits, 3 RBIs) also boosted the Warriors (7-3).

Westminster followed that with a 5-0 triumph as Ryan Perez (1-0) struck out four and walked none and Joe McGannon led the offense with a double and three RBIs.

"The pitchers did a good job and the guys swung the bats in that first game," said WC coach Jeff Moeller. "Sometimes it's hard to focus after a big win like that."
