1. Ryan Perez, Westminster HS, LHP/RHP/3B/1B, 5-11, 150: Yes that’s right… left-handed and right-handed pitcher. Perez
quickly became the talk of the showcase as he took two gloves to the mound. As
a left-handed pitcher, he topped 81 mph with a solid feel for his changeup and curve.
After one throw from the right-hand side we knew were witnessing something special.
He showed the same exact motion and arm action and topped out at 80 mph. The
switch-hitting third base/ first baseman showcased a mechanically solid swing from both sides of the plate and should develop
into a highly recruited prospect as he physically matures.
2. Kevin Elder, Westminster HS, RHP/3B, 6-0, 200: Earned the event’s best velocity (83 mph), as he showed
he can throw from two different arm slots. The athletically-built right-hander displayed a low ¾ arm slot and
side arm slot which generated late arm-side run to his fastball. Elder was especially intriguing as he flashed a plus slider,
good depth on curve, and change.
3. Jack
Richmond, Loyola HS, LHP, 6-4, 175: Possibly the most upside of them all, this long and lean left-handed pitcher showcased
a loose arm action. With his easy arm and run to his fastball, Richmond should see a significant spike in his 77 mph
fastball. With more work, Richmond has the arm action and size to be a highly recruited pitcher in the coming years.
4. Chad Johnson, Galesburg HS, C/SS, 5-9, 150: This athletic catcher and shortstop produced good infield
actions and average arm strength from behind the plate. The 5-foot-9, 150-pound
left-handed hitter made consistent solid contact.
5. Joshua Perlmutter, New Trier HS, OF/3B, 5-10, 165: Perlmutter showed good lateral quickness in
the field. At the plate, he let the ball travel with a balanced swing, good load, and barreled ball right up the middle.

1. Charley Gould,
Lake Forest HS, C, 6-2, 195: Strong-bodied athlete proved to be the big hitter at Prep Baseball Report’s February 1st Underclassmen Showcase. At the plate, he demonstrated
extremely quick hands and bat speed, was mechanically solid with good power to all fields. The
6-foot-2, 195-pound Gould was also the top ranked catcher showcasing a strong arm, good transfer, and accurate throws. Gould proved to be one of the top prospects we’ve seen in the Class of 2011.
2. Paul Solka, Maine West HS, 3B, 6-1, 175: Relatively unknown heading
into the showcase, Solka put his name on the map as a prospect to pay close attention to after the 6-foot-1 third baseman
impressed with good bat speed, mechanics and drove the ball with gap power. The
athletic infielder flashed the best infield actions with a strong arm.
3. Charlie Tilson,
New Trier HS, OF, 5-11, 165: Tilson was the best all-around
athlete at the event. He had the event's best arm strength from the outfield (81 mph) with smooth actions, ran 4.37 home
to first, and showed good extension with bat speed.
4. Matthew Hart,
Wheeling HS, RHP/3B, 6-1, 160: Hart is an athletically
built third baseman and right-handed pitcher who showed good instincts for the game. On the mound he throws three pitches
for strikes. His 81 mph fastball was delivered with a quick arm with good finish. At the plate he produced bat speed
and solid consistent contact to go with his smooth hands at third.
5. Kyle Leone,
York HS, C, 6-3, 175: Tall and lean, Leone showed soft hands receiving with good footwork on his throws. As one of the top
catchers at the showcase, he had a consistent 2.05-2.17 pop time. Leone swung the bat well displaying good contact with
occasional pop to all fields and a quick bat.
6. Jordan Chudacoff,
New Trier HS, RHP/OF, 6-1, 170: This interesting prospect has the tools and body to keep developing into a top-ranked
athlete. Chudacoff showcased a power arm (81 mph) with good arm-side life. At
the plate he has quick hands with good timing that finds the barrel.
7. Tyler Anderson,
Wilmington HS, RHP, 5-11, 150: One of the most complete pitchers at the showcase, Anderson showed a loose
quick arm action with a good delivery and mechanics. This right-hander's 78 mph fastball had good life and finish. Anderson
had one of the event’s best off-speed pitches, showing a hard slider with good rotation and depth.
8. Jimmy Ryan, Carmel
HS, SS, 6-0, 140: Ryan is a top-level athlete with excellent speed. The 6-foot, 140-pound Ryan ran an event’s
best 4.18 home to first. As a defender, he put himself into good fielding position and showed good hands. Offensively,
he displayed bat speed, compact line-drive producing swing.
9. Brok Webb,
Marion HS, RHP/3B, 5-11, 180: The 5-foot-11, 180-pound
Webb showcased a high ¾-slot with good mechanics. This righty displayed a good
feel for his off-speed pitches including a sharp breaking curveball and late sinking change-up. In the field Webb had good hand with a quick transfer release.
10. Danny Falgren,
Willowbrook HS, C, 6-0, 160: This athletic and flexible catcher showed good blocking skills and all-around
catching mechanics that produced strong accurate throws. The right-handed hitter
used a loose swing to create good bat speed
